Phatic Communion Update

I may have appeared to disappear for a while…but I’ve been working on slight redesigns to Dreaming 5GW — while adding a major change to that site:  The D5GW Blorum and the D5GW Forums.

So far, they are not being much used.  Want to come over and play…?

A recent post at D5GW gives a general outline to the Blog/Blorum/Forum taking shape there.  Essentially, the Forums’ open fora include one called “The Blorum,” and anyone posting a new thread there will have that thread automatically appear as an entry to the Blorum, i.e., in blog form.  The idea:  To broaden the 5GW perspective beyond the 4 main contributors’ writings at the main blog.  The Blorum can be used to:

  • Link another blog post or forum elsewhere discussing the concept of fifth-generation warfare, with a description of that outside source
  • Post criticisms of D5GW posts
  • Cross-post 5GW-related entries
  • Create entirely new entries with whatever thoughts about 5GW are surfacing; i.e., anything from brainstorming to full-blown posts
Necessarily, some guidelines have been established for the Blorum.

Because of these changes to D5GW, I’ve pretty much been brain-dead vis-a-vis any major inspirations for new posts there or here at PC, for the last couple weeks or so.

Today, I decided to change the look of Phatic Communion as well.  I’m pretty happy with it.  The last design was really a cop-out, since I followed the D5GW design during the last design revision of PC:  ‘twas quickest, but ultimately rather bland.  The new design is fresher, imo.

Incidentally, for anyone visiting PC who hasn’t been keeping tabs on D5GW:  The sites are now using a different form of commenter authentication.  I don’t have the time or desire to explain the three methods in detail here, so I’ll just link to an entry on D5GW that has the relevant information.  I would note, however, that anyone registering on-site to be able to comment only needs to register once on either blog; the two blogs will use a common registration system, which means that the same username and password will work on both D5GW and Phatic Communion.

Oh, and by-the-by, I really do plan to post more frequently at Phatic Communion.  I keep telling myself that the old, clunky design bothered me too much; heh.  Maybe that was it (honestly).  When the format bugs me, I need to change the format.  Well, we’ll see.
