Traitor
Senator Frist is a traitor to the nation — if only in spirit.
He is a hypocrite, a liar, a thoroughly greasy con artist who will say anything to spin for the power that benefits him most. It should not benefit him. We should make sure that it does not.
I know that others do it, on both sides of the aisle. Is my faith in the American system faltering? It has faltered for long, and often, now. I’m sickened to my core — and worried that the future of America may be destroyed by politicians and con artists (redundancy) who are little motivated to address the big issues in a forthright, honest, and efficient manner. These are not managers of the nation, but exploiters. These are parasites.

Only if you believe that politicians and their fan-clubs are the American system. Thankfully, we've get a bit more than that going for us.
OTOH: Thanks to the comms explosion, they're in our face 24/7, complete with paid & unpaid bootlickers. That we let them be is almost pathological.

I'm also upset that so much power has been concentrated into a few hands: by which I mean, the few committee members of either party who stand between many American people and their elected representatives who are not on that committee. Consequential, enlightening debate is also often shut down by committees before it can even begin. (And truth suffers, or is at least delayed. If delayed, I'm not sure such a system can function in this high-speed, media-centric age, when getting at the truth soonest is likely to be so very important.)

Considering the low wattage brain power we send to Washington...
Considering the enormous bulk of the federal government...
Considering the vast number of pies they have a finger in...
The committee system is the only practical way to get things done with any semblance of efficiency.
This is only going to get worse as we seem to be adding a new cabinet member every administration. The only recourse is smaller government, and our fellow citizens don't seem to be too interested in that. My personal hobby-horse is term limits, but what congresscritter is going to vote himself out of office? It's depressing if you think about it for too very long. So I, ah, don't...
